Chief Lucky James, a key figure in Edo politics, has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing the crisis rocking the party at all levels as the reason.
His resignation letter, dated July 24th, 2025, was addressed to the ward chairman of the party in Ward 10, Etsako West Local Government Area, where he is domiciled.
Chief James’ resignation is a significant blow to PDP in Edo State, especially given his influence in Edo North District.
Chief James blamed the crisis rocking the party at all levels for his resignation, stating that the decision was made after extensive consultations with his political associates, leaders, and constituents.
Chief James’ next move is uncertain, but it’s gathered that both his former party, APC, and the African Democratic Party (ADC) are lobbying him.
His defection could boost the fortunes of the party he decides to join, given his track record of making an impact wherever he is.
His impact in Edo North District and previous roles in Adams Oshiomhole’s administration make him an attractive figure to other parties.
As a former Special Adviser and Commissioner for Local Government in the Adams Oshiomhole Administration, Chief James has significant experience and influence in Edo State politics
He holds the record of being the first Executive Chairman of Etsako west local government where he won the best local chairman award in the state.
