The Weppa and Wanno community in the Etsako East council area is in deep mourning following the sudden death of Mr Anthony Audu Itseumah, a prominent figure in the community.
Although there has been no official announcement regarding his passing from the family, news of his death began circulating on Sunday afternoon and quickly spread across the local government area.
One of the mourners expressed his grief on social media, stating Itseumah’s significant contributions to the community as the founding president of Pyramid Club.
Feeling crestfallen, he instantly took to his social media account to share his sorrows, saying, “It is a black Sunday afternoon. Weppa Wanno land just lost a great son, Mr. Anthony Audu Itseumah. He was a friend to everyone including the masses and was honest and forthright”.
The late Mr Itseumah was the foundation President of the Pyramid Club of Nigeria from 1987 to 1991.
He reportedly died in faraway Egypt after a prolonged illness.
Members of the Weppa and Wanno community have come together to express their sorrow, with many gathering in small groups to discuss the impact of Mr. Itseumah’s death.
Those who knew him well described him as a “consummate humanist and socialite.”
The loss of Mr Itseumah is seen as a “big loss” one that will possibly create a void that will be hard to fill in both the Etsako East North and the Afenmai region.
The community is now awaiting details regarding his burial plans.
