A former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Adjoto is now an object of mockery among his Akoko Edo kinsmen who said his newfound love with the Dan Orbih-led PDP faction and the recently impeached deputy governor of the state, Hon. Philip Shaibu is a misnomer.
Hon. Adjoto alongside former deputy governor, Shaibu recently met at the Ogbona meeting of PDP in Edo north where they tied interest of working against both the Edo state governor ,Mr Godwin Obaseki and the party candidate in the Edo election, Asuen Ighodalo at the September pool.
Borderline News 24 gathered that Hon. Adjoto’s sudden romance with the PDP political faction may not be unconnected with the manner he was left in the lurch after the impeachment of Shaibu as deputy governor
Hon Adjoto who was in the good books of the governor was on the firm hope that he will take the place of the impeached deputy governor hence went full blast in the campaign to impeach Shaibu.
Hon Adjoto coordinated the Edo North front of the hatchet job to impeach Shaibu, including calling him unprintable names, all in a bid to inherit his political office and to make himself relevant
There are, however, those who believe that Adjoto is overrated as far as Akoko Edo politics are concerned
Hon. Saiki, a former councillor stressed that whatever political accomplishments are attributed to the former Speaker have been through thuggery and violence
He rhetorically asked what Akoko Edo gained during the period Adjoto served as Speaker, adding he is now seen publicly hobnobbing with the likes of Shaibu and Orbih whom he had previously l abused and called unpalatable names.
Similarly, Otaru, an APC leader in Adjoto’s Akoko Edo ward, said the opposition camp is brimming with joy over the loss of political direction by Adjoto, stressing further that he is sure that neither Chief Dan Orbih nor Sen. Oshiomole would give him what he earnestly craves for- deputy governor position
Otaru predicted that Adjoto is heading towards political oblivion
Another Akoko Edo politician who seems to know Hon. Adjoto like the palm of his hand Adebisi told Borderline News 24 that described Adjoto as a rabble-rouser who thrives mostly on controversy, stating further that it would not take long before he exhibits the same trait to his newfound political allies
