An Umbrella body of Afenmai based Union in the United States of America, Afenmai World Congress, AWC, has elected Mrs Fatima Dankano as the President of the ethnic based body.
The election which brought Mrs Dankano on board of the highly esteemed body took place during the delegates conference of the association which was attended by over 20 affiliated Unions on the 29 of July.
Mrs Dankano who is the first female person to be elected to precide over the affairs of the body, is a Registered Nurse and Business Woman and hails from Auchi, Etsako west local government.
She held the position of the Vice President of the body prior to the election.
Mrs Dankano is taking over from Dr. David lyalomhe, a Los Angeles based Attorney at Law from Ayua-Uzairue in Etsako West LGA.
Afenmai world Congress over the years has acted as the voice of Afenmai people in the United States .
Mrs Stella Ejedawe, a Los Angeles based Realtor , who hails from Auchi was the first lnterim Chairman of body.
Some of the past Presidents of the body are Dr. Osilama Osime, a Medical Doctor based in Boston, from Uwanno Kingdom in Etsako East, Dr. Tony Akande, a Pharmacist and Businessman based in Detroit Michigan from lgarra, Akoko Edo , and Dr. John Emale, Businessman and President of a Logistics outfit in Dallas-Texas from lviukhua community in Uwanno Kingdom, Etsako East LGA.
