Abdallah Pushes for Improved Mental Health Care in Edo

Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Eugenia Abdallah, has visited traditional medicine centers in Ewohimi, Esan South East LGA, to assess the welfare of mentally challenged residents.

She emphasized the need for humane treatment, proper accommodation, and a safe rehabilitation environment, stating that the government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals remains unwavering.

Mrs Abdallah stressed that facilities must meet acceptable standards, including cleanliness, adequate staffing, and sufficient living space, to support residents’ recovery and reintegration.

She warned that the government will take action if standards are not met, adding that periodic inspections will continue to ensure compliance.

During the inspection, proprietors including Dr. Ahialenkpen Abegbe Herbal Healing Home, Dr. Innocent Enobaikhale Herbal Healing Home, and Dr. Sylvester Eguarhen Herbal Healing Home expressed their appreciation to the Commissioner for personally visiting their facilities. They acknowledged the observations and recommendations provided during the inspection, assuring the Commissioner that the feedback would be taken seriously and acted upon. The proprietors further reaffirmed their commitments to collaborating with the government to standardize operations across their centres.
