BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle involving the redeployment of commissioners and the appointment of newly sworn-in members of the State Executive Council.
The redeployment was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.
According to the statement, the reshuffle was done to better align responsibilities with the respective skills, experience and competencies of members of the council.
In the minor reshuffle:
Hon. Andrew Momodu, former Commissioner for Oil and Gas, has been deployed to the Ministry of Communication
Prof. Omorodion Ikponmwosa, former Commissioner for Livestock Development, has been moved to the Ministry of Oil and Gas
Mr. Ohimai Ehijimetor, former Commissioner for Communication, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Livestock Development
The statement also announced the deployment of newly sworn-in commissioners. Mr. Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery from Owan East LGA will head the Ministry of Mining, while Mr. Martin Anayochukwu Oli has been assigned to the newly created Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations.
The SSG said the new Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations was established to promote inter-ethnic and inter-community harmony, strengthen peaceful coexistence, and harness the rich diversity of Edo citizens as an asset for the development and unity of the state.
The government expects all members of the State Executive Council to bring renewed vigour, professionalism and commitment to their assignments in furtherance of the administration’s determination to deliver efficient, responsive and people-centred governance to the people of Edo State.
