The family of former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba, has announced the passing of the family matriarch, Hajia Mariamu Garuba.
Hajia Garuba died in the late hours of Friday, 24th April 2025, as confirmed by her son, K.D. Garuba, and her daughter-in-law, Her Lordship, Justice Hassana Garuba.
She will be buried according to Islamic rites on Saturday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m. in Auchi, Etsako West LGA.
Family and associates of the former Speaker have begun paying tributes to the deceased, whom many described as a “mother of mothers.”
She is survived by children and grandchildren.
