Owan Group Urges Okpebholo for Political Inclusion, Representation
The Owan people of Edo North have called for greater political inclusion and representation in key state institutions, including the civil service, Ambrose Alli University Governing Council, and Judicial Service Commission.
The appeal was made by Owan Conscience Chairman, Richard Ofen-Imu, during a courtesy visit to Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo at the Government House.
Ofen-Imu expressed concerns about Owan’s representation in state institutions, acknowledging the governor’s developmental strides.
A delegation member, Sabina Idowu, commended Okpebholo’s engagement with Owan people and noted that ongoing projects had boosted their confidence in the government.
She appealed for consideration of Owan’s interests in political appointments, citing concerns about Edo North representation .
Responding , Governor Monday Okpebholo, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and equitable development across the state, assuring citizens that no community will be sidelined under his watch.
I have taken note of your appeal, especially regarding the Governing Council of AAU and other grey areas. We will look at your requests within the ambit of the law to ensure that the interest of Owan people is adequately captured,” he added.
Describing Owan as his home, the governor reaffirmed his bond with the people and pledged continued support for their development aspirations.
