The defection of renowned journalist and former presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been described as a “big plus” for the party in Edo North, particularly in the Owan axis.
The first executive Chairman of Owan East Local Government, Hon. Ambrose Imode, said Momodu’s presence in the ADC would significantly strengthen the party from his hometown of Ihievbe to the entire Owan clan.
Hon. Imode, a key ADC leader in Owan East, was among the dignitaries who witnessed Momodu’s formal entry into the party at a ceremony held at the ADC secretariat in Benin City.
According to Imode, one of Momodu’s first steps will be to mobilize his extended family and community members to join the party, further consolidating its grassroots base. “His entry is a morale booster and a strategic advantage for us in Edo North,” Imode noted.
Momodu, a celebrated media mogul, was presented with his ADC membership card at the event, which was attended by party heavyweights, including the National Leader, Chief John Odigie Oyegun,
After the ceremony, he traveled to Owan East accompanied by his adopted father and party leader in Edo North, Senator Yisa Braimoh, and a large entourage of supporters.
His defection has sparked excitement among his kinsmen, with many expressing pride in having him as a member of the party. Some residents even suggested that Momodu should consider contesting for the Edo North senatorial seat in the upcoming elections.
