Communities in Uzairue, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s clan, are in the dark Ikagbigbo, Ayogwiri, Irekpai, and Ugbenor have been without power for 9 months. They’re counting on Governor Okpebholo to help restore electricity .
The blackout is said to be occasioned by a faulting substation transformer supplying electricity to the affected communities.
It was gathered that the transformer developed fault since April this year, leading to total black out in the affected communities.
They however appealed to Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo said they have to seek the governor’s help as can no longer rely on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company.
A resident of Irekpai community Musa Habibu, said the transformer servicing the areas had in the last nine months broke down thereby putting the four communities in total darkness.
He said the faulting transformer is beyond the communities hence they are appealing to the state government to come to the aid.
According to him, the communities had done all within their power but to no avail hence they have to appeal to the State government.
Also speaking, a resident of Ayogwiri, who gave his name Aleakwe , described the prolong non availability of light in the Ayogwiri, Ikabigbo, Irekpai and Ugbenor axis is highly embarrassing
”For over nine months, these four communities has been without electricity.
He said the irony is that those who are supposed to lead the crusade to resolve the issue are comfortable using generators.
On his part, Mr Awalu Zaki, noted thavthe development has brought untold hardship on them.
He said as a result of the non availability of electricity, they are finding it difficult to get water as they depend on light to pump water from the various borehole in the communities.
” We now pay to charge our phones from the phone charging spot because they are using generator” he said.
He however called on the State government and we’ll to do individuals in the four communities to come to the aid of the communities”
