Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Dr. Blessing Agbomhere as the Chairman of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission.
Dr. Agbomhere is presently the South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly
This commission is meant to provide a framework for sustainable environmental management in Edo State, ensuring transparency and accountability in resource mobilization and utilization.
The bill to have to create the newly established Ecological Funding and Management Commission got accelerated passage at the Edo state house of Assembly..
The Ecological Fund in Nigeria serves a crucial purpose: to tackle the country’s growing environmental challenges.
Established in 1981, the fund is allocated at a rate of 2% from the Federation Account. Its primary objective is to assist all levels of government in addressing ecological problems nationwide.
Dr. Blessing Agbomhere who hails from Etsako central is a multifaceted individual with a strong background in law, politics, and philanthropy.
He is a lawyer and a prolific writer who has authored several books and journals.
Through his foundation, Dr. Agbomhere has made significant contributions to the educational system in Edo State by donating writing materials to various schools for over three to four decades. His foundation also provides financial support to individuals, enabling them to engage in small-scale businesses.
