Edo Line Buses Stranded: No Park in Auchi, Passengers Loaded Along Highway
By DADA AYOKHAI
The Edo Line transport company, owned by the Edo State government, currently lacks a proper and conducive park in Auchi, Etsako West LGA, forcing them to operate along the road, picking and discharging passengers without adequate facilities.
Edo Line buses are currently stationed along the busy Auchi-Abuja highway, where passengers are forced to wait in open spaces before boarding. The situation is particularly dire in the afternoons, with both officials and passengers exposed to the scorching sun without adequate shelter ..
Passengers waiting for Edo Line buses complained no seating areas or toilet facilities, making their experience uncomfortable. Moreover, picking up passengers along the busy highway poses a significant safety risk, as a loss of control by oncoming vehicles could result in collisions and potential loss of life.
An Edo Line staff member revealed that the company’s designated park has been taken over by a car mart allegedly owned by a top government official.
. As a result, Edo Line lacks the leverage to reclaim the park without intervention from the governor to evict the unauthorized occupant.
The staff member felt that the management of Edo Line should have reclaim the park for rehabilitation before resuming operations, implying that the current situation is unsustainable and potentially unsafe for passengers and staff.
