A former Etsako East council chairman, Hon. Aremiyau Momoh, has declined to serve as a member of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (ESIEC.

Governor Monday Okpevbolo had previously announced the reconstitution of the electoral body’s board, naming an eight-member committee to lead it.
Hon. Momoh , a seasoned politician, said his rejection of the appointment is due to personal reasons.
The governor has forwarded the names of other seven-member board to the state assembly for screening and confirmation
The declination of the offer surprised many who recall the cosy political relationship between the governor and the former Etsako East council chairman
Besides, Hon Momoh is reputed to be a strong supporter of the governor and was fingered as one of those who helped to galvanize support for the governor in Etsako East and beyond
Now, Gov. Okpevbolo will concern himself with finding a suitable replacement for the nominee.
Additionally, the urgency to quickly inaugurate the board of the electoral body has raised speculation about the state government’s eagerness to conduct another local government election.
