Edo House of Reps member, Omoruyi Doles Out N10M Scholarship to Best Performing Students

In keeping with his promise to provide yearly books’ scholarship to best students in his constituency, the member representing Egor/ Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi at the weekend in Benin City doled out the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10M) to 120 best students from public secondary schools in his constituency.
The Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 exercise, which took place at the famous Teachers House in Benin City, is the second edition of the Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi’s yearly scholarship scheme for Senior Secondary School (SSS) students in the constituency.
Four best performing SSS 3 students from public schools in Egor and Ikpoba-Okha LGAs totaling 120 students benefitted from the scholarship.
The money is to enable the students to purchase all textbooks and materials needed to enhance their performance in the forthcoming ( WAEC ) and ( NECO ) examinations.
In addition to the money N10M, the students also received branded notebooks that expected to cover their final year academic activities.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the benefactor and member representing Egor and Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency in the Green Chamber, Hon.Murphy Osaro Omoruyi said no nation can make any meaningful development without education, hence his commitment and investment in the sector.
The lawmaker promised to sustain the annual scholarship programme as long as he continues to represent the two local government areas in the National Assembly.
Honorable Omoruyi admonished the students to put the fund to good use, adding that by so doing, he would be encouraged to do more.
Some of the benefiting students who could not hide their excitement assured Hon. Omoruyi of judicious use of the fund even as they prayed to God to bless his tenure in the National Assembly with wisdom and sound health.
The weekend ceremony was the 2024/2025 and second edition of the Honorable Murphy Osaro Omoruyi’s scholarship scheme for the best students of public secondary schools in his constituency .
The 2022-2023 first edition of the scholarship scheme took place in November 2023.
