‎The African Democratic Coalition (ADC) has thrown its weight behind the call for equitable representation in Edo North’s senatorial seat, as the 2027 general elections draw near.

‎ The party’s leadership in Edo North recently convened a strategic meeting at Senator Yisa Braimoh’s residence in Ihievbe, Owan East LGA with impressive turnout of  delegates from all six LGAs in the district pledged support for a power rotation arrangement.

‎The meeting, presided over by Hon. Tunde Lakoju, a former House of Representatives member, emphasized the need for inclusivity and urged Etsako brethren to support a Senate candidate from either Owan or Akoko Edo in 2027.

‎The ADC leadership stressed that this alliance is crucial for a unified Afemai front .
‎The consequences of failing to unite could be severe, they warned.

‎They also articulated their commitment to encouraging their Etsako brethren to rally behind a Senate candidate from either Owan or Akoko Edo in the upcoming 2027 elections, insisting the time is ripe for such a strategic alliance that is both bipartisan and essential for the advancement of a unified Afemai front.

‎The political dynamics in Edo North are markedly shaped by intense rivalries among its principal groups: Owan, Etsako, and Akoko Edo.

‎In  his opening remarks, Sen. Braimoh illuminated this historical tension, citing the inequitable treatment of the Owan  and Akoko Edo Local Government Areas under the previous leadership of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who currently occupies the Senate seat for the district.

‎He fervently underscored the enduring repercussions of this marginalisation, suggesting that it could stoke further discontent and unrest within communities that should otherwise be unified.

‎Sen. Braimoh passionately articulated the necessity for the Afemai people to come together to confront these longstanding grievances proactively. Only through a unified approach can they hope to present a strong, cohesive front as they approach the pivotal elections ahead.

‎ Sen. Braimoh presented compelling and well-substantiated historical data to support the assertion of Etsako dominance within the political landscape of Edo North.

‎The data revealed that since 1960, the Etsako region has successfully secured seven out of the ten available senatorial positions, highlighting its significant influence in the area.

‎This decision also included an appeal to their counterparts from Etsako, encouraging them to refrain from entering the race, demonstrating a spirit of cooperation and strategic alignment.

‎The meeting recorded an impressive turnout of prominent ADC Coalition leaders across the senatorial district, which includes Senator Yisa Braimoh,  Marvelous Omobayo, immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State; Dr. Tunde Lakoju, former Member of the House of Representatives ; Col. S. B. Musa;ADC Coalition Leader, Etsako West;  Hon. Ambrose Imoode, ADC Coalition Leader, owan East ; Engr. Jolly Isokpehi,  East; Hon. Patrick Uanseru, former Commissioner for Trade, Business and Cooperatives and member of the ADC State Leadership Team;
